City of Richmond Resumption of Normal Utility Operations

As the State continues to reopen from the COVID-19 pandemic, Cities and Utility operators across the state have begun to resume the normal billing, collection, and disconnection process. On June 15, 2020, the City Commission for the City of Richmond approved resuming our normal utility billing, collection, and disconnection process effective July 1, 2020. It is important to note that disconnections would not occur on July 1st, these would not begin until mid-to late July and early August as part of the normal billing cycle.

We are writing to inform you that we plan to move forward with this approach for all districts to maintain a consistent level of operation and lessen the confusion amongst customers. As part of our commitment to our customers the City plans to begin a public media campaign designed to inform customers about resuming our normal practices. This campaign will incorporate a post on our website, Facebook page, and use of our local media outlets. Additionally, we plan to use the Tyler Notify phone service to send out a brief message to our customers informing them the change. If your board has any objection to resuming these operations, please respond to me in writing by June 26, 2020. We look forward to your cooperation as we work to inform all our customers in a timely and efficient manner.
